 Endo friendly bread recipes?
« Thread Started on Sept 5, 2009, 9:31pm »

I couldn't find a thread for this, so...

I am looking for more good wheat free (and maybe gluten free) recipes for making bread. If I could finally find a good bread that I could eat and that wouldn't make me hurt, I would love it!

Hi there,

I just tried my first brown rice flour loaf and it worked out pretty well! Here's a link to the recipe:

http://mudspice.wordpress.com/2007/10/06....ree-dairy-free/

It made a smaller loaf for sure, so perhaps the recipe could be doubled and baked in the oven instead. It has a kind of cake-y texture but crisps up nicely when toasted and doesn't bring on the cramps for me. I have also bought some amaranth flour and coconut flour to try. Spelt and rye breads work for me as they have less gluten than conventional wheats. Even switching to organic wheat and whole grain stuff has made a difference when I do eat it, but I still bloat so try and opt instead for lower gluten breads.

I'm a pasta fiend so next I'm going to try making my own organic brown rice pasta.

Another thing for me which has helped is decreasing the diary in my life. I've been making really delicious cashew and almond nut milks instead, which are creamy and satisfying. You just soak the nuts overnight and if you don;t have a nutmilk maker, blend them up fine, then strain through cheesecloth and bob's your uncle. I add a pinch of salt, a tsp of vanilla and a squirt of agave syrup. I haven't tried a chocolate nutmilk yet but will give that a go sometime, as well as chocolate almond milk ice cream... Yummm...

Cheers, Ruby

Damn this stuff sounds good! I volunteer at the Maryland Food Co-Op so maybe I can ask one of our vegan chefs if they know how to make something like this.
